Our Mission
We are the home of grassroots activism for civil rights and social justice. We advocate, agitate, and litigate for the civil rights due to Black America. In our cities, schools, companies, and courtrooms, we are the legacy of W. E. B. Du Bois, Ida B. Wells, Thurgood Marshal and many other giants.
Meet the Augusta-Richmond County Branch President
Rev/Dr. Melvin Ivey
Dr./Rev. Melvin Ivey has translated his lifetime of activism, community involvement, and ministry into the Presidency of the Augusta Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He sees his presidency as encouraging, supporting and advocating for voting rights and voter education, civil rights, and ensuring organizations and institutions don't violate the rights of individuals.
Take Action: Disrupting the Status Quo
We're committed to dismantling racism and disrupting inequality to create a society where all people can truly be free. Our work includes civic engagement, systemically building racial equity, and supporting policies and institutions that prioritize the urgent needs of Black people, who are most impacted by race-based discrimination.
From city halls to the Supreme Court, using advocacy and litigation, we will secure civil rights for everyone.
